Legolas, I hope there's more than arrows in that bag, it's time to move in!

Well at last this beauty is finished and boy oh boy have the minions out done themselves again. I said it before and I'll say it again, this elf fort paints up so nice, and I enjoy playing on it every time. In my last post I showed how even simple base colors make this amazing piece pop; well now with a series of built-up colors, washes, and high lights, this elf fort will make any game really stand out. Finished in a super protective coating will ensure that the colors and finish last even if it's thrown in a bag and hauled to your local store to wow your friends and create a jealous rage that will surely ruin all their dice rolls. All joking aside I think what really makes me love this fort is the way the textures of the trees and rocks are so easy to pick out with simple painting techniques. With only a small amount of effort you can have such an impressive terrain set that does what any good set should do and that is to immerse you in the theme of whatever game you're playing. Also, because the walls are modular, this set can used as a fort like shown here, stretched out to be a defensive wall with raised platforms for a more wargaming type play, or expanded to be a huge fort or even surround a city! Another great aspect of this set is how it was designed to have a "keyed" system built in so that it is obvious which platform fits on which wall and tower correspondingly. The set uses openlock clips to hold it together, but honestly with the way the platforms interlock, I personally never feel a need to use them, but they do come with the set. Now while it is modular and all the walls, platforms, and wall faces are able to be separated, I don't pull the faces off the platforms for fear the clipping mechanism will break. I do remove the platforms from the walls and towers for storage and they are very robust. I've been enjoying playing on it and I know you will too. This one is going up for sale on the Deed to the Land Ebay page, where all our finished pieces go, or it can be ordered unpainted or painted on our website. Hello Madchen Elfy,

Painting this fort can be done quite quickly regardless of levels of expertise. In a past post we showed how just priming in brown with a rattle can really brought it to life. After that a simple Grey on the stones will only take an hour or so and from there a wash could do the rest. If you want more details, I would suggest picking out two colors to paint odd stones here and there, then give the wood a highlight dry brushing. After that give it a wash then go back and do any final highlighting. All that should take an additional couple hours depending on how efficient your minions are.
Good luck and thank you for the question.

This is an excellent piece! I really like the colors you’ve used. What kind of time would you estimate a newbie painter would take to get the basic colors on this?

Well you’ve done it son. It looks great and the misses approves. It was a little touch and go there for awhile, but you pulled out another victory and now the elves, most importantly the misses, and I can sleep without fear of the nothing. Goodnight Ole chap, I’ll be thinking of you in the morning with a little cream in my tea.
